What is diabetes?

Diabetes is on top of the list of diseases that are propagating through the global population. Every year new members join the family of diabetic patients even though some of them do not know that they are already in. diabetes is not a temporary ailment that you will get infected with then get cured after a month or two or even a year but it is a lifelong disease so, you do not need to learn how to fight it but you need to know how to live with it.

The first thing you need to know is what diabetes is. Diabetes is a metabolic disturbance that occurs inside the human body; once it occurs, the body is not able to deal with sugar in a right way. After you eat a meal, the sugar is absorbed and reach the blood stream, insulin should be secreted from pancreas at this point to deal with the sugar in blood but if your pancreas do not secret insulin or if the insulin is insufficient or even if the insulin is sufficient but your cells cannot utilize it then you are a diabetic patient, let us break it down a little.

If your body do not secret insulin or secret it in an insufficient amount then you are suffering from diabetes type one but if you are secreting insulin normally but your body cannot utilize it then you are suffering from diabetes type two.

The majority of diabetes patients are type two, it is more prevalent than type one and it is easier to deal with because it only need some monitoring for your diet and oral pills to keep your blood glucose level controlled.

There are several symptoms for diabetes and it does not differ greatly from type one to type two. Patient of type one or type two would suffer from thirst all the time, the patient will also suffer from constant rages of hunger because the level of glucose fluctuates in their blood. The diabetic patient also needs to visit the bathroom several times during night and never get a good long sleep. Unclear vision is another symptom for diabetes but it is not as common as slowly healing sores and cuts.

If you discovered that you are suffering from diabetes then the first thing you need to do is to keep calm and do not panic. Diabetes is controllable but it needs to be managed in a right way. Keep your body weight moderate, control your consumption of candy sweets and the last thing you need to do is to practice a little or even walk to encourage your body to use insulin in a better way.
