Astrological Synastry and Your Relationships
Most people who are interested in astrology and want to check out their compatibility first want to know about their synastry. This is where you form aspects or angles between your natal chart's planetary positions and your partner's. For instance, your Venus is at 22 degrees Leo, and your partner's Mars is positioned at say 26 degrees Aries, this would form a trine angle (120 degrees) and is considered very favorable in astrological compatibility. Now this is just one such example, there are many aspects and angles to be formed between two charts, and every aspect is important to the overall compatibility of a couple.
Synastry and it's aspects really denote how you feel in the company or presence of the other person. Some people make you feel very comfortable, yet another person makes you feel mad for apparently little reason. This would be synastry at work. Have you ever wondered why you only feel that friendship type of feeling with someone but you are so sexually attracted to someone else? That's synastry for ya!
Now synastry is a great way to begin investigating your relationship's compatibility. It's very important to have as many harmonious connections as possible and to find out where you may have some challenging aspects so you can be aware of your relationship's weaknesses. Every relationship does have some weak areas so don't be too bothered by them, but if you have a long list of them, well, may be this relationship wasn't meant for the long term. Many relationships are for learning and deciding what you Do want in a relationship and what you Don't. You may have attracted a relationship that mirrors back to you a characteristic that you need to learn from or about yourself. This can be very advantageous in the long run. Especially if you have challenging aspects from your partner's Pluto or Saturn.
But don't entirely despair because there's also a chart that is called the composite chart that can help offset these difficult aspects. This chart is formed by combining two natal charts to form ONE chart, this is the chart of the relationship itself. I've seen composite charts that have had a wonderful effect on a couple. Sometimes their synastry had some difficult aspects but the composite chart indicated more harmonious ones!
On the other hand, I've also seen it when the synastry was rather compatible but the composite was a mess! Most of these couples were perplexed as to why their relationship started out so wonderful, and they got along so great, and then difficulties arose. Well, the composite chart doesn't become really active until the relationship becomes more of a long term or committed one. Then the potential of this chart becomes known. There are other couples that fought like the dickens in the beginning but once the relationship started to settle down it became more harmonious!
So it's best to get an overall look at your relationship's synastry and composite elements to determine it's long term potential.
